Hemi Tai Tin

He mea whakapakeke a Hemi ki te taha whakateuru o Tāmaki Makaurau, ā, he kaiako, he kirikawa anō hoki i Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa. Ko te takenga mai o tōna aroha nui ki te reo Māori ko te kōingo nui ōna kia mārama ki ngā kōrero a tana kuia. Ko rātau ko tana wahine, ko Ngāhiriwa, ko Mau Tai Tin, ko Wīremu Tai Tin, ko Katrina Rotima ngā kaiako o te kapa haka o Te Taha Tū, he mea whakarewa i te tau 2009. Ko tā Hēmi mahi ināianei hai kaiako ki tētahi kura kaupapa Māori, ko Te Kura Kaupapa o Te Kōtuku. Kua tū nei a ia hai kaiwhakawā ki Te Matatini i roto i ngā tau, ki ngā wāhanga e rua. 

Teacher and Mau Rākau exponent of Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa, Hemi was born and raised in West Auckland.  His love for te reo grew when he wanted to understand his grandmother who was fluent in te reo Māori.  Hemi and his wife, Ngahiriwa along with Mau Tai Tin, Wiremu Tai Tin and Katrina Ratima are tutors of the kapa haka, Te Taha Tū, which was established in back in 2009.  Currently, Hemi is a kaiako at a Māori medium primary school, Te Kura Kaupapa o Te Kōtuku.  He has been one of the judges for Te Matatini over the years in both aggregate and non-aggregate sections.
